Vector concept of world global communication with long distanceRecently, the Event Manager Blog identified five trends in conference apps. (View the infographic here.) Omnipress’ conference app aligns with several of the trends, including the two we’ll focus on here: a simple but effective interface (or, as the infographic reads, “not too fancy”) and a means for encouraging interaction among attendees (“ARS revival”).

Not too fancy: Our apps do what they promise to do, and they do it well. Bells and whistles aren’t necessary when so many features are available and user-friendly. Even the most basic of our three app options, the Conference App, is branded to your association and/or event, connects attendees to your meeting’s Twitter and RSS feeds, and includes the complete program schedule, speaker information, venue and exhibit maps, GPS-enabled maps, and directories of sponsors and exhibitors.

That’s a lot of features with high value for attendees! But that doesn’t mean that the app is complicated or difficult to use. Download the Conference App through the App Store (Apple devices) or Google Play (Android) and try it out! You’ll see how simple and intuitive the app is.

ARS revival: An audience response system (ARS) is a means of gauging the opinions of a large group through votes on a particular subject or question. Engagement skyrockets when attendees feel like their voices are being heard and that they are part of the process.

When you choose a social app, like Omnipress’ Connect App, you can tap into attendees’ need to participate, collaborate, and network. Features include a social timeline, person-to-person messaging, live polling (ARS, digitized!), and push notifications. You can download and experience the Connect App as well, through the App Store and Google Play.

This is the year to try a conference app for your annual meeting, if you haven’t already. If you work with Omnipress for your conference’s printed materials, you can get up to 75% off an app! Register here to save!
