Build Your Digital Library: Association Publications, Directories, White Papers
For now, though, we’ll move forward from the WHY of our DPP to the WHAT. Publishing content online sounds like a good idea, but is it really worth investing in a whole platform when all you’ve got is a few PDFs? That’s a good question, though we’re willing to bet you have more content to upload than you realize. It’s worth your while to make a list and think it through.
Let’s start with your association publications. Include your monthly magazine, but don’t forget the eNewsletter! Whether you offer your members association news weekly, monthly, or quarterly, the newsletters should be included in your Digital Publishing Platform. You can push newsletters directly into a mobile app for fast and easy distribution.
Don’t stop yet! Consider publishing directories, too. After all, isn’t the one your members have in print outdated? With a DPP, your updates will be applied to your content instantly, giving your members the current information they need.
Handbook are another good choice to house online. Find out everything from soup to nuts in this important resource.
White papers can also be stored on your DPP; it’s important to include your association’s thought leadership and discussion of relevant issues. Any other association publications or information belongs on your platform as well.
Publications represent just the beginning. Tune in next week for content related to annual conferences. Thank you for reading!
